Dear Winfield Middle School Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. We have had a busy and productive week at Winfield Middle School, and I wanted to share some of the highlights and important updates with you.
This week, our students participated in an intruder drill to ensure everyone knows our safety procedures. We also welcomed the CHADS Coalition, who spoke to our students about the importance of mental health and the prevention of depression and suicide. Their work, which focuses on saving young lives through awareness and prevention, is truly invaluable.
We have officially started the second quarter. As the weather changes, we are seeing more cases of illness in our school community. Please encourage your students to wash their hands regularly and use hand sanitizer to help prevent the spread of germs.
Looking ahead, we are beginning to prepare for MAP testing. We are working on finalizing dates and procedures for late April and early May. More information will be shared as we get closer to testing time.
A very exciting event is happening this weekend: the grand opening of our new Performing Arts Center is on Saturday, November 7th. We hope to see many of you there as we celebrate this wonderful addition to our school.
Looking ahead to next week, we will be holding our Veterans Day celebration at the high school on November 11th. This is a special event to honor those who have served, and we encourage families to join us in recognizing our veterans.
Next month, we will be utilizing our IReady assessment portal to evaluate student progress. This is a valuable tool that helps us ensure every student is on track with their learning.
To encourage strong attendance, we have set a schoolwide incentive. If our attendance rate reaches or exceeds 95%, students will have the opportunity to give Mr. Yarolimek and me hair and beard trims after No Shave November! We hope this fun challenge will motivate everyone to be at school each day.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If we don’t know, we can’t help!
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
J.C. Kime
Winfield Middle School Principal
